CARPET TILEs

Prior to installation

Before installing the carpet tiles, your floor must be clean, smooth, leveled and be within the required temperature of 50°F to 90°F (10°C to 32°C). The carpet tiles can only be installed over a hard surface (such as plywood, concrete, hardwood or ceramic tile). No under padding should be used between your carpet tile and subfloor.

  1. ESTABLISH THE CENTER POINT OF YOUR ROOM

In order to determine the center point of your room, snap chalk lines from opposite corners and from opposite walls. Use a straight edge when snapping the chalk line from opposite walls to ensure the lines form a 90o angle.

2. POSITION THE TILES

From the center point, and starting from one end of the wall, lay your tiles to the opposite side. You may need to shift your first row from your base wall to ensure proper fitting and avoid any short tile strips against each wall.

CARPET PLANKS

Prior to installation

Before installing the carpet planks, your floor must be clean, smooth, leveled and be within the required temperature of 50°F to 90°F (10°C to 32°C). The carpet planks can only be installed over a hard surface (such as plywood, concrete, hardwood or ceramic tile). No under padding should be used between your carpet plank and subfloor.

1. ESTABLISH THE CORNER STARTING POINT OF YOUR ROOM

You must choose a corner which has a 90° angle, then select your installation method.

The tiles can be positioned: classic or herringbone.

2. Position the planks

From your corner start point, lay the first tile along the wall. For a classic installation, lay the second tile after the first tile. For a herringbone installation, lay the second tile perpendicular to the opposite wall. You may need to shift or cut your first row from your base wall to ensure proper fitting and avoid any short tile strips against the opposing wall.

After the tiles are positioned, start from one side of the wall and place the MAXTAB® (sticky side up) underneath the tiles as in the diagram below. For tiles next to a wall, you may cut the MAXTAB® in half.
