ABOUT VENTURE
The current company was created with the acquisition of Venture Carpet Inc by Groupe St-Georges Inc. on July 1st, 2003.
Our vision is to be recognized as a North American leader in the field of textile floor coverings, by not only our product quality, design, and styling, but also our unequalled representation and service.
GROUPE ST-GEORGES INC.
Founded by Mr. Édouard Lacroix in 1928, St-Georges Woolen Mills, located in St-Georges de Beauce between Québec city and the Maine border, manufactured woolen fabrics for the clothing industry. During the 60's, the market for this product was decimated by foreign imports and the company was forced to review its business plan to survive.
Carpet manufacturing was chosen to be the saving activity as new technology was being introduced to this industry. The tufting machine had recently been invented and the demand for broadloom carpet was exploding. The conversion of the plant was completed in 1971.
The growing demand for polypropylene carpeting led to the start-up of the Poly Extrusion division in 1994 with a capacity of several million pounds.
In the spring of 2003, a 72,000 square ft building was erected on a 435,000 square ft lot in the St-Georges Industrial Park to accommodate additional production facilities and storage.
VENTURE CARPETS INC.
Founded as a subsidiary of Venture Carpets USA in 1972, the company was operated successfully, benefiting from the installation of an innovative multicolor nylon dyeing process, known as '' Knit-de-Knit'' the company soon captured a large part of the commercial and utility residential carpet market.
The company was sold to Harding Carpets Ltd in 1975. Ten years later, the assets were then sold to some local business people and employees. In 1999, the owners, wanting to retire, sold the company to a group of investors. In July 2003, Groupe St-Georges Inc. acquired Venture Carpets Inc.
Located 85 kilometers east of Montreal, in an area known for its textile industry traditions, the firm has access to a qualified and stable workforce.
SYNERGIES
St-Georges Carpets was specialized in the production of polypropylene carpet, sold to independent floor covering distributors. Venture Carpets produced nylon and commercial carpets sold to a hybrid network of customers.
The complementary nature of the two companies was obvious so Mr. Alexandre Lacroix, owner of Group St-Georges Inc., initiated and completed the unification of the two entities in 2004 under Venture Carpets Inc. as the corporate name with a common management team and sales force. The unified company is now well in place and the resulting are efficiencies in production and product development and a complete product line offering to our customers.
OUTLOOK
The larger Venture company operates in a highly competitive mature market. Our philosophy exploits the efficiencies of multi-product distributors in the floor covering distribution chain, bringing products to the end consumer swiftly and economically. Goals of corporate performance are attained and we are positioned to take advantage of any favorable shift in consumer demand reverting to carpeting as a source of comfort, luxury, quietness, ease of maintenance and refinement in home décor.
